Awakening
Awakening by Alex Fishgoyt is a breathtaking and awe inspiring piece of artwork. Frankly, it’s much more than that. It is an experience that dramatically engages the viewer. Fishgoyt artfully invites you to enter his world and to believe in the dream. Once the viewer dares to enter and explore he challenges you to join him on the journey.
At first glance the journey seems inviting, exciting and as you move deeper into it you begin notice that it is unpredictable, scary and maybe even dangerous. Fishgoyt creatively illuminates your journey with hope as you cross a bridge over the vast and mysterious ocean to a brilliant white city. Or how about a long journey down a shadowy back alley where even a small faint light gives encouragement to the inquisitive traveler?
Awakening is filled with many possibilities. First, you must be willing to get on the ship where there is no turning back. This is a ship headed toward a gigantic wave. Will this vessel capsize or will it break on through to the other side and transport us to our Awakening?
The woman is the fulfillment of the journey: a journey that is rich, fertile, beautiful and fulfilling – all that the dreamer is. She completes the cycle of life. Welcome to the journey of Awakening – a pathway filled with many awakenings.
Awakening – I was so excited to receive this huge package from FedEx today. A big Thank You to Vladimir Kush and Karyn Anderson of the Kush Fine Art Gallery for turning me onto Fishgoyt’s amazing surrealism! Also I greatly appreciate Alex signing and personalizing his work with an inspiring note to me on the back of the painting.

Sacred Gift
Sacred Gift – Last week my friend Skip and I were in Las Vegas. We had an incredibly relaxing week thanks to the Qua Spa at Caesars Palace. We were just getting ready to Leave Las Vegas, but, unlike Nicolas Cage in the film Leaving Las Vegas LOL, when Kush Fine Art Gallery consultant Karyn Anderson called. “Vladimir Kush is painting down at the Caesars Palace Kush Fine Art Gallery, come on down.”
Many of you have seen my blog Meet the new Salvador Dali and were touched by the incredibly luminous and inspirational art of Vladimir Kush. I figured I might not have another chance to meet this master fine artist. So, I twisted Skip’s arm a little and said, “Hey we gotta go see my favorite artist!” Talk about a golden opportunity! Actually to me it was more like a Sacred Gift.
Sacred Gift – Vladimir’s art has truly inspired me, so much so that I have become an avid patron of his work. I found him to be a delightful and playful person; just like his paintings. One of the things I love most about Vladimir’s work is that it is intuitive, expansive and touches on many subjects much like Luminous ROC. I love the fact that Vladimir likes to paint about anything, as I love to write about anything.
It’s funny one of Vladimir’s friends came up and mentioned that he thought Vladimir and I were brothers. We bonded and had a great time talking allegory, hidden signs and symbols, Polynesian mythology and the metaphorical journey of his work.
Vladimir and I are standing in front of his painting “City by the Sea.” He called it “The Squid” as he was embellishing one of the 88 numbered giclee prints. The inspiration for the painting came to him as he was flying into San Francisco. The painting reminds me of James Cameron’s “The Abyss.” It’s spectacular to me in every way.
I felt very fortunate for the opportunity to watch him paint the final details of his new huge panoramic painting “Awakenings.” To be able to spend some time with Vladimir Kush and talk with him, to me, that was a Sacred Gift.
If you are interested in finding out more about Vladimir’s art work you can contact Karyn Anderson at the Las Vegas Kush Fine Art Gallery: Karyn@vladimirkush.com or cell 775-997-8700 Mention Sebastian, she’ll take care of you. Karyn Rocks!

is a faithful servant. We have created a society

BANKSY – THE MOST INFAMOUS STREET ARTIST
BANKSY – THE MOST INFAMOUS STREET ARTIST without a doubt Banksy defines this thesis. Banksy reminds me of the the Guerrilla Poster and Political commentary Artist Robbie Conal who’s work first graced and was plastered all over the streets of Los Angeles in the 1980s. These artists and their work personify and define the antithesis of established art. Unlike most art that makes you think, inspires you or carries a large price tag or whatever blah blah blah. More importantly, these Artists have a clear capacity to insult and piss you off, in an educated way of course.
Banksy remains anonymous
Banksy remains anonymous in order to maintain the mystique. Thusly, it is not a mystery. There is no need or reason to see him or meet him. Why? Just look at yourself in the mirror. He represents a piece of Us all and his work speaks from the collective unconscious. One only needs to delve into the deeper meanings of the self and/or go into the places one may be scared or not want to explore.
Banksy represents the underdog
Banksy represents the underdog and more importantly his works defines an outpouring of the mass suppressed psyche of our current society and the deterioration of the moral and social fabrics of today’s civilization and world economies. The fact is, if you are a building owner, you could only wish to be so lucky to have Banksy decide to paint on your building. Consider him a modern day Warhol. His work… soon to be priceless. You are absolutely a fool and an idiot to paint over it. BTW, you can quote me on that, too. Just look at the recent Woman that is selling a Warhol painting for $30 million at auction that she originally bought on an installment plan for $1,600.
The world needs more Banksy’s. But for now, check out some great videos of his awesome work.
Song of the Day: Edwyn Collins “A Girl Like You”
Song of the Day: Edwyn Collins “A Girl Like You” I remember when this song came out. It’s recording style was not only unique but very creative. Edwyn’s step into the past brought Us into the present with a 60s themed Pop song that was simply, addictive. Brilliant.
Edwyn is an amazing and inspiring artist. Especially with his struggles and a long road to recovery after a double cerebral hemorrhage in 2005. Here’s Edwyn and the Band from a French TV Show in 1996 performing “A Girl Like You” Live. Enjoy
Ricky Gervais ROCKS the Golden Globes
Ricky Gervais ROCKS the Golden Globes – It seems today that Hollywood is in an uproar over Ricky Gervais’ comedic performance last night at the 2011 Golden Globes. Honestly last night’s Golden Globes was one of the best ever! Let’s be honest again. The Golden Globes should be adamantly thanking Ricky right now. Nobody really watches the Golden Globes in the States. Ricky has put the Globes on the map with an amazing edgy and provocative performance.
What did Ricky really do? Why/how did he piss the Hollywood Elite’s off? He touched the untouchables and he mixed up the game! Bravo! He accomplished with brilliant precision what all the great comedians have done before him; he mixed things up and made you think. He crawled under your shield, he entered your safety zone and made you laugh!
In reality this speaks to a bigger problem. America has become so politically correct and such a litigious society that you really have to have balls to speak your mind today. Dare you say anything provocative and you will savagely attacked by numerous “special interest” groups. Frankly, it’s pretty lame and totally Un-American. That’s one of the great things about the internet and social media, especially Twitter. Branch out, speak your mind and stir the hearts and souls of Men and Women alike.
From the Luminous ROC marketing/social media perspective Ricky Gervais smoothly and effectively accomplished what the Golden Globes have always desired; he invigorated (a dead audience) and performed life saving CPR to their market share. Also Ricky Gervais did exactly as he predicted to “Do a proper job this time.” Today the hipsters in Social Media and Twitter are ablaze at how impressed, brilliant and happy they are with Ricky’s performance. Executives should take note. Take a look at what some of the top tweets are saying on Twitter:
While many rumors are floating around that Ricky Gervais may never host the Golden Globes again Christian Bale commented that “Ricky Gervais is a genius.”
The 2011 Golden Globes were fantastic! The most hilarious and entertaining Globes ever! Utterly brilliant!
Ricky Gervais wins the best comedic performance of 2011 for his brilliant performance at the 2011 Golden Globes. Thank Ricky Gervais! You ROCK!
